In 2023 Russell started working with Bendigo’s Synchronicity Productions, with whom he has had the privilege of acting in several live theatre projects. These projects include:
Clue (2023). Russell’s debut role where he played the unexpected cop. For this role, he was nominated by the Victorian Drama League for best actor in a small role.
Prometheus Bound (2023). Here played the gods' Power and Oceanus.
Alfred Hitchcock's classic The 39 Steps (2024) featured an incredibly talented cast, with whom Russell played seven roles, three on stage simultaneously.
Vintage Death (2024). In the dramatisation of Colin King's novel, Russell played the extremely unlikeable Detective Sergeant Gary Cockburn.
Home I’m Darling (2025). In this wickedly witty social satire, Russell played the not-so-lovable rogue Marcus. OH, how the skin crawled.
